Senator Metzger Celebrates Regional Economic Development Councils’ Grant Project Awardees

Albany, NY...The Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) announced Thursday that the Mid-Hudson Region was awarded $65.8 million for 105 projects for Round IX of the REDC awards. 

“I was happy to have supported so many worthwhile projects across the Mid-Hudson Valley and Catskills in this year’s REDC selections,” said Senator Metzger (SD-42). “These state investments will make a huge difference in our communities, whether they are for protecting our vital water resources, making our downtowns more pedestrian-friendly, or expanding job opportunities by supporting expansion of existing businesses. I am thrilled to see awardees in Delaware, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster counties receive the funding they so greatly deserve.”

• Saputo Dairy, Purchase and Installation of New Equipment in their Delhi facility, $599,000

Established in 2011 by Governor Cuomo, the REDCs are public-private partnerships made up of local experts and stakeholders from business, academia, local government, and non-governmental organizations intended to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth for their regions. 

Overall, more than $761 million has been awarded through Round IX of the Regional Economic Development Council initiative, and over the years, more than $6.9 billion has been awarded to more than 8,300 projects consistent with each region's strategic plans, projecting to create and retain more than 240,000 jobs.
