Senator Thomas Holds Summer Food Drive for Local Families in Need
(Levittown, NY) -- New York State Senator Kevin Thomas wrapped up his first District-wide summer food drive to benefit local families in need.
Senator Thomas and his team collected 1,000 pounds of food items for Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization. Its programs and services support over 316,000 Long Islanders who face hunger.
“Summer is a critical time of need for food banks,” said Senator Thomas. “I am thankful to all those who contributed to our food drive. Their generosity and support will help our neighbors who are facing hunger during these summer months.”
“On behalf of our Long Island neighbors facing hunger and food insecurity, we thank Senator Thomas and those who contributed to his recent food drive,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president & CEO, Island Harvest Food Bank. “Their generosity will help put food on the table of a local family struggling to make ends meet, and for that, we are exceptionally grateful.”
