Yonkers, NY- Senate Majority Leader and local State Senator, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, has taken swift action to help ensure New York State is better prepared to address the spread of COVID-19, more commonly referred to as “coronavirus.” Under her leadership, the Senate passed legislation which included $40 million to help the State address the coronavirus.
“The safety and health of my constituents, and all New Yorkers, is my top priority,” Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said. “There is no reason to panic, but there is a reason to act. We have the ability, facilities, and personnel to prepare and protect our residents and that is what state government must do. The Senate took decisive action to advance this legislation, and I will continue to work with my colleagues in government to address the coronavirus situation as it unfolds.”
In response to the concentration of cases in Westchester, Senator Stewart-Cousins and the entire Westchester Delegation have been working closely with County officials and the Department of Health to coordinate responses and better protect local residents. Both the State Department of Health and Westchester County Department of Health have created fact sheets regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Additionally, the state government has a new hotline number (1-888-364-3065) for New Yorkers to call with information on travel and symptoms associated with COVID-19.
