Senator Jessica Ramos Passes Bill Expanding Whistleblower Protections to Workers in New York
July 21, 2020
“We just passed one of the most important protections to help frontline workers in New York amid the coronavirus pandemic. At a time when essential workers are losing their jobs for revealing that their employers aren’t providing sufficient PPE, implementing proper safety measures or are violating labor laws, it’s more crucial than ever to protect whistleblowers. These workers are concerned for their wellbeing and our labor laws need to reflect our workers’ needs. By providing private sector employees and independent contractors the same protections afforded to public sector workers, this bill will empower our workforce to stand up for themselves and their colleagues at their workplace.”
State Senator Jessica Ramos statement on Senate bill S.4396-A.
