SENATOR BIAGGI ISSUES STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS OF ABUSE AGAINST MARILYN MANSON
February 4, 2021
BRONX, NY – This week it was reported that at least six women have come forward with allegations of abuse against musician Marilyn Manson, including actor and activist Evan Rachel Wood. The allegations against Mr. Manson include sexual assault, psychological abuse, and/or various forms of coercion, violence, and intimidation.
State Senator Alessandra Biaggi (D-Bronx/Westchester) issued the following statement:
“I extend my deepest gratitude and solidarity to Ms. Wood and the women who have bravely come forward to share their experiences. As a survivor myself, I intimately understand the complex trauma that comes with abuse, and want to acknowledge the profound courage it took for these women to publically speak their truth.
The claims against Mr. Manson are deeply disturbing, and potentially point to a troubling pattern of sexual violence and manipulation. There must be an immediate and thorough investigation into these allegations by the appropriate agencies, to ensure full transparency and accountability.
We cannot turn a blind eye and allow perpetrators to get away with abusive behavior any longer. Survivors deserve our full attention, and I stand with them in their pursuit of justice.”
