Mario Mattera Sworn Into State Senate
January 5, 2021
Mario Mattera of St. James today was sworn in as the new State Senator representing the residents of the 2nd Senate District. His wife Terry, who administered the oath of office, and his two daughters, Jessica and Jayme, joined Senator Mattera at the Albany swearing in ceremony.
“It is an honor to have been entrusted with this responsibility by the residents of the 2nd Senate District. I am grateful to all of those who have supported me – especially my family who have been so supportive,” stated Senator Mattera. “I look forward to working with everyone in our community and throughout the state to bring common sense government back to New York.”
A lifelong resident of the 2nd Senate District, Senator Mattera has been a proud labor leader with the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters with Plumbers Local #200 for over four decades and will utilize the experience he gained leading the proud hardworking men and women of labor to enhance the lives of New Yorkers. He also brings a wealth of experience through his work with local civic and charitable organizations throughout Long Island.
As a State Senator, he will fight to make Long Island more self-reliant by investing in our infrastructure to strengthen the economy, encouraging small business growth to create jobs and ensuring that law enforcement officers have the tools they need to do keep local neighborhoods safe.
Senator Mattera and his staff are now available to assist residents through their office at 260 Middle Country Road in Smithtown. While unscheduled in-person meetings are currently not permitted due to Senate COVID-19 precautions, constituents can reach the office by email at mattera@nysenate.gov or by phone at 631-361-2154.
“My hope is that our community will reach out to our office whenever we can be of assistance or when they want to provide their input on a state issue. It is only by working together that our state will recover from the current crisis and I invite everyone in our community to let me know what is on their minds so I can bring their voice to Albany,” added Senator Mattera.
Senator Mattera will serve as the chief Republican member on both the Consumer Protection and Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions standing committees. He has also been appointed as a member of the Labor and Transportation standing committees.
