ONEONTA – 11/09/21 – Senator Peter Oberacker (R/C-Schenevus) today commented on the announcement of Remington Arms’ planned expansion in Georgia.
“The Remington Arms Ilion workforce is the company’s greatest asset. I have met many of the employees and I know they are dedicated professionals who want to support their families and continue a long-standing, multi-generational tradition – making high quality firearms right here in the Mohawk Valley. I stand ready to work with local officials to ensure commitments made to rejuvenate the birthplace of Remington are kept.
“New York State policies under one party Democrat rule, which are unkind to businesses in general and have directly singled out gun makers, play a substantial role in Remington’s decision to look to a more welcoming state for expansion. Earlier this year, I spoke out against irrational legislation that holds firearm manufacturers responsible for the illegal actions of others. At the time, I said on the senate floor that personal accountability, manufacturing jobs, and the Second Amendment would all be diminished. Sadly, that prediction is coming true.”
