Addabbo Brings Rain Barrel Giveaway to Ozone Park

(August 22, 2023) - Queens, NY - State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. partnered with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) to host a free Rain Barrel Giveaway this past Sunday in the church parking lot of Calvary Assembly of God in Ozone Park. The Senator thanked both Pastors Robin and Bacchus for the permission to use their space and to District Leader Jeanette Garramone for volunteering to help give out the barrels.

The 55-gallon plastic rain barrels attach to a rain gutter to collect and store excess water during periods of rainfall. That rainwater can then later be used to complete tasks around the house and outdoors, rather than using fresh water.

“Rain barrels are very useful tools that have a positive impact on our environment and help our residents,” Addabbo said. “With a quick and easy setup, the rain barrels can collect rainwater which can then be used for a wide range of tasks such as watering gardens, washing cars, cleaning windows and other chores. Residents with rain barrels attached to their homes not only preserve their drinking water, but they can also save some money on their water bills.”

Senator Addabbo’s final free rain barrel giveaway event for this year will be on Saturday, September 16 at the United Talmudic Seminary, located at 74-10 88th Street, in Glendale, from 10am to 12pm. To reserve a rain barrel, constituents must call Addabbo’s office at 718-738-1111.
