Brooklyn, NY- In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, State Senator Kevin Parker in partnership with Memorial Medical Care, PC and NY Cancer and Blood Specialists organized a highly successful mammography clinic event with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Delta Rho Omega Chapter also sponsoring. This event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mammograms in detecting breast diseases and providing early diagnosis of breast cancer.
Speaking about the event, Senator Kevin Parker emphasized the significance of mammograms: "By offering mammography services to women in our community we are ensuring that they have access to potentially life-saving screenings. Regular screenings are crucial for women between the ages of 40-85 to promote early detection,” he said.
As a practice of MSK doctors, Memorial Medical Care provides exceptional cancer care in a comfortable and convenient location. During the event, their team of medical professionals conducted the mammograms utilizing the safe and simple low-dose x-ray procedure to capture images.
The event allowed the community members to receive mammograms despite not having medical insurance. In addition attendees got a full physical work up and were referred to an on-site Medical professional where necessary.
These screenings serve as a valuable diagnostic tool for detecting breast cancer which is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of death among women in the U.S. A mammogram can detect an issue even in cases where there are no visible symptoms or irregularities. NY Cancer and Blood Specialists with a mission to provide world-class patientcentered and affordable care also participated in the event. Their presence further reinforced the importance of community-based care ensuring that individuals diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders receive accessible treatment while being able to remain in close proximity to their homes and their loved ones.
