Senator Parker receives Community Service award from Sigma Gamma Rho

NY – New York State Senator Kevin Parker was honored with a Community Service Award by the Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, at their annual Youth Symposium on March 8th, 2025. The prestigious award recognizes Senator Parker’s unwavering commitment to empowering youth, supporting community programs, and championing social causes that resonate with the Sorority’s core values.

Senator Parker’s support extends beyond his personal involvement. He presented a Resolution on behalf of the New York State Senate formally recognizing the contributions and impact of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority’s programs, including the Caucus Weekend panels, where thought leaders engage in crucial discussions on social justice, economic empowerment, and community development. The resolution underscored the Sorority’s role in shaping policies and influencing positive change within the state of New York.

Throughout his distinguished career, Senator Parker has been a dedicated ally and advocate for Sigma Gamma Rho's programs, demonstrating a profound impact on the Sorority's initiatives. His longstanding support spans several key programs, including the Sorority's Swim 1922 initiative, which promotes water safety and encourages youth, particularly from underserved communities, to become proficient swimmers. Senator Parker has been instrumental in helping to secure funding for such programs that continue to empower future generations.

Additionally, his involvement in the Sorority's Youth Symposium, an annual event aimed at addressing issues that affect young people in the community, has made a significant difference. The event brings together educators, activists, and community leaders each year to discuss youth development, education, and wellness. As a dedicated partner and leader, Senator Parker has been a driving force behind this vital initiative, ensuring its success year after year.

At the event, Senator Parker was joined by several distinguished guests, including Senator Roxanne Persaud and Councilmember Darlene Mealy, who expressed their gratitude and admiration for the Sorority’s dedication to the community and Senator Parker's continued support.

The Eta Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority thanked Senator Parker for his outstanding leadership and partnership in uplifting the youth and broader community. His presence and continued support made the Youth Symposium, which has become a hallmark event for the Sorority, all the more impactful.
