(Albany, NY) — Today, the New York State Senate unanimously adopted a resolution introduced by Senator Kevin Thomas commemorating Ramadan by declaring Mar. 22 – Apr. 21, as Ramadan in the State of New York. This resolution recognizes the significance of the holiday as the holiest month in the Islamic calendar and is observed starting March 23, 2023 to April 21, 2023. During this time of self-reflection, we must come together to embrace the spirit of community and unity and highlight the rich cultural heritage and diversity of our neighbors. Thank you, Imam Karkour, for taking the time to come to the Capitol and delivering such a meaningful opening invocation.”
