Senate One House Budget Includes Senator Kristen Gonzalez’s Proposal of $500,000 to Bolster Cybersecurity
(Albany, NY) State Senator Kristen Gonzalez (SD-59) issued the following statement today:
Senator Gonzalez said, "With the number of cyberattacks on the rise, I am pleased that the Senate one-house budget included my proposal of $500,000 to support each state entity in providing a report on the state of their technology. The report will include information about where vulnerabilities may exist and whether our information systems are backed up in the case of a ransomware attack. The Office of Information Technology Services will also be required to include a cyberattack incident response plan. The information in the report will help the legislature identify where we need to modernize our government and is an important step in preventing cyberattacks and protecting our data."
