Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) announces a $75,000 grant to Friends of Knox Farm State Park to help fund improvements at the park.  The funding is part of a program providing support to 28 not-for-profit organizations statewide involved with stewardship of state parks, trails, historic sites and public lands.  The grants support partner group efforts to raise private funds for capital projects, engage in maintenance and beautification projects, provide educational programming, and host special events that promote public use of the parks.

"New York is home to some of the best state parks in the country, including the historic Knox Farm,” Senator Gallivan said.  “With the help of partner organizations such as Friends of Knox Farm State Park, we can ensure the proper care and maintenance of our parks and facilities, and enhance the experience for park visitors.”

The funding to Friends of Knox Farm will be used to renovate the Mansion Summer Estate, a wedding and events venue managed by the organization.  The 633 acres park is the former country estate of Buffalo's renowned Knox Family.  In addition to observing wildlife, park visitors can hike, cross-country ski and ride horseback along scenic nature trails.

The Park and Trail Partnership Grants program is funded through the state Environmental Protection Fund. Grants are administered in partnership with the not-for-profit advocacy group Parks & Trails New York. Recipients must raise outside funding of at least 10 percent of the grant amount received.
