State Senator Gustavo Rivera released the following statement regarding the Rent Guidelines Board vote.
"Last night, the Mayor’s hand-picked Rent Guidelines Board voted to increase the rent for rent-stabilized units by 2.75% for 1-year leases and 5.25% for 2-year leases. It is unfathomable that the board continues to increase the rent on more than two million working New Yorkers who are already severely rent-burdened.
"This ill-advised decision will cause thousands of Bronxites to suffer the consequences of unaffordable rents, exacerbating our housing crisis and pushing New Yorkers out of their homes and into shelters."
