Brooklyn, NY - On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Senator Kevin Parker, in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Delta Rho Omega Chapter and Shatonia Amee, celebrated the 15th Annual Free Prom Giveaway. Held at Samuel J. Tilden High School, the event provided graduating high school girls with complimentary prom dresses, shoes, and accessories, ensuring that financial constraints did not hinder their ability to participate fully in this cherished high school tradition.
Reflecting on the milestone 15th year, Senator Parker expressed his profound gratitude to the community for their unwavering support and participation. "It is with great pride and joy that we mark the 15th anniversary of our Free Prom Giveaway," stated Senator Parker. "I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Delta Rho Omega Chapter and Shatonia Amee for their steadfast dedication and support. Together, we have made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless young women in our community."
Shatonia Amee, reflecting on her partnership with Senator Parker over the past seven years, shared her heartfelt sentiments. "It has been an incredible journey working alongside Senator Parker and his dedicated team," she said, adding, “witnessing the joy and gratitude on the faces of the young women we’ve served reaffirms the importance of giving back to our community. I am honored to be part of such a phenomenal project."
Heaven Smith, a graduating student from BCAM High School gleefully shared her experience at the Free Prom Dress Giveaway: “I got a really good dress for my prom!" she said. “Overall it was a good event and I enjoyed it a lot.”
