Senator Mattera Launches Holiday Donation Drive To Support Local Families
November 21, 2024
Senator Mario R. Mattera (2nd Senate District) is hosting a holiday donation drive to spread joy and hope to families in need. Senator Mattera’s office is collecting donations of pajamas, toys and food that will be provided to local organizations and families this holiday season.
Contributions will be accepted at Senator Mattera’s district office located at 180 East Main Street in Smithtown. Donations can be delivered from now through Friday, December 20th, during regular business hours.
“Together, we can make a meaningful impact and bring holiday cheer to those who most need it in our area. The holidays are a time for giving and it is important that we come together as a community to help our neighbors. Every donation, no matter how big or small, can make a world of difference in someone’s life. Thank you to everyone who joins us in this important effort,” said Senator Mattera.
The office is accepting new and unwrapped toys, stuffed animals, books and other kid-friendly items for children aged 2 through 16. All items donated will be delivered to children receiving care in local health care facilities like St. Catherine of Siena Hospital and the Northwell Health Dolan Family Health Center.
To help everyone share the warmth of the holidays, Senator Mattera is joining with EJs PJs to ensure that children and families throughout the region can enjoy the holidays comfortably. Started by Patricia Poggi, the effort was inspired by her three sons Edward, Jeremy and Patrick, and involves the entire family and the local community. This year, the office is collecting new and unused pajamas for young children, teens and adults to ensure that everyone has the supplies they need to enjoy the holidays. And finally, to help families in our community who are struggling with food insecurity, Senator Mattera is hosting a holiday food drive to provide supplies for local organizations including the Salvation Army of East Northport and other local food pantries. During the holiday season, the office is collecting items including:
