(BINGHAMTON, NY) – Senator Lea Webb is proud to announce the successful conclusion of her 3rd Annual Menstrual Product Drive, which collected thousands of essential menstrual products for individuals in need across Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins Counties. The drive saw an overwhelming response from the community and local organizations, demonstrating a shared commitment to promoting equity and access to vital resources.
As Chair of the Women's Issues Committee in the New York State Senate, Senator Webb launched the initiative to address the growing need for menstrual products in the region. The campaign was carried out in partnership with local organizations including Binghamton Metro Doulas, C4 Cortland Communities of Color, and Downtown Ithaca Alliance, who helped organize drop-off locations and encouraged widespread participation.
“The success of this year's drive speaks volumes about the generosity and compassion of our community,” said Senator Lea Webb. “By coming together to provide these essential products, we are taking a meaningful step toward breaking down barriers and ensuring that no one has to choose between their health and their basic needs. I’m proud to stand with local organizations and our neighbors to make this vision of equity a reality.”
“No one should have to choose between basic necessities and menstrual products,” said Karina Martinez Owner of Binghamton Metro Doulas. “Our annual drive is a way for the community to come together and support those who might otherwise go without. We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support that make this initiative possible year after year.”
The donated menstrual products — including pads, tampons, and wipes — will be distributed to community organizations throughout Senate District 52. These donations will directly benefit individuals and families who may face financial barriers to accessing these basic necessities.
