Cinch Art Space

(CORTLAND, NY) – Senator Webb presented Cinch Art Space with the prestigious New York State Senate Empire Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the arts and their unwavering commitment to fostering community growth.

Cinch Art Space, located at 75 East Court Street, is a women-owned business and multi-use venue that combines art and craft studios, teaching spaces, and a sales floor to promote local artists and regional art production. The space has become an integral part of the Southern Tier’s cultural landscape, offering a platform for artists and serving as a cornerstone for community engagement and artistic education.

“With its mission to nurture artistic talent and connect the community with regional art, Cinch Art Space plays a pivotal role in strengthening Cortland’s cultural identity,” said Senator Webb. “Their commitment to providing a sustainable space for artists and supporting local art production is a model for what it means to invest in both the creative economy and community development.”

The Cortland Corset Building, a repurposed 150-year-old factory, now serves as a thriving artistic hub that houses a variety of creative and wellness businesses, including photography studios, yoga and massage therapy, custom tailoring, and fiber arts. Cinch Art Space is an essential part of a larger initiative to create an arts corridor that connects downtown Cortland to the historic building.

“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from Senator Webb,” said Tammie Whitson and Tina Minervini, co-owners of Cinch Art Space. “For over 12 years, we've proudly served the Southern Tier, and it’s been a privilege to support the growth and development of our community. The most rewarding aspect of our work is fostering connections through community art, where regional art can thrive and find a lasting presence in the local economy. We are humbled by this award and grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community we hold dear.”
