Brooklyn senator’s bill to help veterans in employment search passes State Senate

STATEWIDE— THE NY STATE SENATE UNANIMOUSLY PASSED a bipartisan bill that requires the Department of Labor to create and maintain a list of available careers and job openings for veterans across New York. The bill’s main sponsor, Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-23), who represents parts of southern Brooklyn, is married to an Army veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan and she chairs the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee in the State Senate. This legislation, indexed as S. 2071 and now in Assembly committee, directs that the Dept. of Labor maintain a statewide list of careers and job listings throughout to help streamline opportunities available specifically to New York veterans.
