Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione Recognized as Woman of Distinction

Albany – Senator Roy McDonald recognized Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione as the 43rd Districts 2010 recipient, of the New York State Senate’s Women of Distinction Award. Marchione was among a group of women from across the state that were given the distinction at a ceremony Tuesday, May 25, in Albany.
During her time in office, Kathy Marchione has delivered high quality, reliable and friendly service to residents of Saratoga County. In her position as County Clerk, Marchione is one of the highest-ranking women in the County Government. The hallmarks of Marchione’s leadership include fiscal responsibility, accountability to taxpayers, listening, and providing innovative, results-driven management.
“There is not a better recipient of this prestigious award than Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione, she has worked tirelessly to provide the best service available to communities in Saratoga County,” said McDonald. “Kathy is a Halfmoon native, and her career has been filled with helping her hometown community along with contributing significantly to the success of Saratoga County.”
Marchione’s career began in her early twenties when she was first elected to local office. She was elected as the Halfmoon Town Clerk in 1979; she went on to serve as the Town of Halfmoon and Saratoga County Supervisor, and her current position of County Clerk which she was first elected to in 1997.
“I’m very honored that Senator McDonald has selected me to receive this esteemed honor, it is truly one of the highlights of my career,” said Marchione. “This award carries great importance, and truly reinforces the concept that standing up for residents and community members is something that does not go unrecognized.”
Marchione is a dedicated family person, she is very proud of her two sons Johnathan and Michael. Kathy is married to Frank Marchione and is also the step-mom to Bobbie Jo. She is blessed to be the grandmother to three beautiful grandsons Noah, Jacob, and Eli.
McDonald selected Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino and the Executive Director of Saratoga Bridges (ARC) Valerie Muratori as his recipients of the 2009 Women of Distinction award.
