(Brooklyn, NY) New York State Senator Kevin Parker released the following statement on President Obama’s announcement that Osama Bin Laden has been killed by U.S. forces:
“This is a historic moment for our nation. Last night, President Obama announced that a team of U.S. Special Forces killed Osama Bin Laden. For nearly a decade the families, friends, and colleagues of New Yorkers who perished on September 11th have waited for this day. Although their loved ones can never be brought back, we know that the one responsible for the lives lost on that tragic day has been held to account. I commend the President, as well as the members of the military, and intelligence community on this heroic accomplishment. However, we must be vigilant of the challenges that remain and go forward in a manner that is consistent with our values and the Constitution.”
