Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with Governor Andrew Cuomo and PGA officials at Bethpage State Park to announce that the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup will be played at Bethpage State Park's Black Course.
The PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup are two of golf’s most premier tournaments. Each one attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators from around the world and provides a significant economic boost to the communities that host them.
“This is tremendous news for Long Island. Hosting these two championship events will provide a significant economic boost to Long Island, generate substantial revenue for local businesses, and put one of our treasures, Bethpage State Park' Black Course, on the international stage for the world to see," said Senator Fuschillo.
Bethpage Sate Park's Black Course is one of the finest golf courses in the country. It has twice hosted the US Open and, in 2002, it became the first municipal golf course in the nation to host that tournament.
