New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, recently hosted New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) Chairwoman Lily Fan in Oneida County and SLA Executive Director Bill Crowley.
The visit, at the invitation of the senator, provided an important opportunity for Chairwoman Fan and her staff to hear from and interact with representatives from restaurants, bars, taverns, breweries, wineries, distilleries, distributors, liquor stores, banquet halls, organizations, clubs and groups such as VFWs, American Legions and Elks lodges in the region.
Besides meeting directly with those who regularly deal with the SLA, Chairwoman Fan also met with area elected officials, including Assemblyman Brian Miller, R-C-New Hartford, Assemblyman Robert Smullen, R-C-Meco, and Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-C-Marcy, toured the F.X. Matt Brewing Company in Utica and visited Bremer’s Wine & Liquor in New Hartford.
“I thank Chairwoman Fan for accepting my invitation to visit the 53rd Senate District and her willingness to hear directly from those who are affected by the SLA,” Sen. Griffo said. “I have always believed that government should be accessible. This dialogue is a critical component to ensuring that the voices of New Yorkers are heard and that state agencies like the SLA are aware of how their policies affect the state.”
