In a vibrant celebration of heritage and culture, the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators marked Italian-American Day with a series of events that culminated in a special ceremony. This year's event honored influential New Yorkers of Italian descent, including WFAN’s Gregg "Gio" Giannotti, Johnny Farina of Santo & Johnny, and celebrated composer and performer Bobby Previte.
In addition, Senator Mario R. Mattera (2nd Senate District) and Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon (52nd Assembly District) were proudly recognized as legislative honorees during the festivities, known as Festa Italiana.
"I am immensely proud to join such distinguished company in celebrating our shared heritage," Senator Mattera added. "These events not only honor our roots but also weave the rich tapestry of our community into the broader New York culture."
The event was successfully organized by Conference President George Borrello, who played a pivotal role in coordinating this significant celebration.
Senator Mattera continues to be a pivotal figure in the legislature, dedicated to making a positive impact and fostering a spirit of unity among his colleagues and constituents.
"I am truly humbled by this acknowledgment from my fellow members of the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators," said Senator Mattera. "It's a privilege to serve as a NYS State Senator and work collaboratively across the aisle to enhance the lives of all New Yorkers."
