STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Assemblyman Charles Fall (D-North Shore) and state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/South Brooklyn) honored the life and humanitarian work of slain Stapleton lawyer Eric E. Garvin with a resolution and proclamation at the New York State Capitol Monday.

“Well, Mr. Speaker, in January of this year tragedy struck the Staten Island community and the entire community when Eric traveled to Chile and his life was taken from us,” Fall said on the Capitol floor, “by criminals who have now been arrested and are being prosecuted as we speak.”

The Garvin family traveled to Albany with former Councilwoman Debi Rose for the honor.

“I was proud to recognize Eric Garvin on the Senate floor, and I’m honored that the Garvin family was able to join us in Albany this week to commemorate Eric’s life. Eric was a remarkable person with a passion for community work, and his untimely passing is a loss that still weighs heavily on his community. He was taken from us far too soon, and his memory will never be forgotten,” said Scarcella-Spanton.
